Speeders

I love speeders.

You know..... the people who fly by you even when you're going 5 mph over the speed limit. True, they get annoying if they tail or cut you off, but that's all worth it. Why? Because I can continue to do my 5-10 over and they are the ones who clear out the cops for me. They get the ticket as I cruse on by..... They are security. I even caught myself the other day speeding up because there was a crazy guy weaving in and out of traffic trying to get ahead. My instincts said he was drawing the ticket-giving attention away so I could go faster! As I followed his quickly fading tail lights, I noticed a pang of disappointment: Not that he didn't get a ticket, but that I could have been zipping along too since there was obviously no cop about.

Whoa, wait a second!!
That's when the Spirit spoke to me. "Isn't it sad so many of you do this with sin too?"

So many times we justify our sins as "not as bad as so-&-so", but the point is, sin is sin. Other times if we hang around those who live daily in the "big sins" we ante-up our sins mentally claiming we're still better.
That's not the point.

Then it means I need to chastise myself and never speed again. Well, yes.....and no. The point isn't speeding/sinning. That's what I use to think it was. The point is, do I love the cop enough not to speed. And if I do slip up and speed, the Cop is not a stranger to me. I know Him. My job is to not get an attitude or start making excuses, but to tell Him I'm truly sorry and ask for forgiveness.

And I know this Cop well enough to know He'll say He's already paid the ticket for me. :)
