The Necessity of SALT

Then the men of the city said to Elisha, "Even though our lord can see that the city's location is good, the water is bad and the land unfruitful."
    He replied, "Bring me a new bowl and put salt in it."
    After they had brought him one, Elisha went out to the spring of water, threw salt in it, and said, "This is what the LORD says: 'I have healed this water. No longer will death or unfruitfulness result from it.' "Therefore, the water remains healthy to this very day according to the word that Elisha spoke.
2 Kings 2:19-22


"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It's no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled on by men."
Matthew 5:13


"For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good, but if the salt should lose its flavor, how can you make it salty? Have salt among yourselves and be at peace with one another."

"Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Your speech should always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person."

We are to be salt.


I find it interesting that there is no such thing as an allergy to salt (sodium) itself. Salt is necessary for life, both spiritually and medically. What people have developed, are allergic reactions to the additives or chemical processes in getting pretty, white salt. 


Isn't it enlightening to know it's what man adds that become the problem. When someone reacts strongly to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, just remember that it's the sin that man added which is producing the adverse reaction- not the "Salt" itself.


Sow pure salt.

Listening To Doubt

We should always listen to our doubts.

Now, before you get too upset, take a moment and listen to what I mean. When we are assailed by doubts from every corner there are some very specific questions we need to answer: Why am I doubting? What are the reasons I doubt? In what way am I doubting? In other words: Is this doubt Scripture based, or self-worth based? In order to combat or take serious the doubt, we need to recognize their root: The Spirit or the Devil.

Listen to your doubts. Assess their origin. Then deal with them appropriately. If they are a discernment from the Spirit, search the Scriptures to find out why. If they are from the enemy, take up the shield of faith (Ephesians 6:16) and cry out to our Savior as a young boy's father once did, "I do believe. Help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)

Didn't I Tell You...?

This verse became very personal to me yesterday. Over and over I was shown His glory, and was encouraged to walk by faith in order to see more. Not only did God speak, directly answering an issue, but the same verse came from totally different sources within an hour of each other.

I believe it can speak to all of us.

"Jesus said to her, 'Didn't I tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?'"
John 11:40

Do you really believe this? Ask the Lord to help you search your heart and know for certain. Then join me in my prayer to the Savior, "...I do believe! Help my unbelief." (Mark 9:24)

The Future: Fear/Anxiety

Phobophobia: The fear of phobias/being afraid.

It is absolutely amazing what and how many things we can be afraid of.
When Satan isn't getting much of anywhere with condemning or tempting us, I believe he begins to prey on the “what ifs...”. In fact, the fear of what might happen can become so severe that we miss the blessings and opportunities God has for us. That is exactly what Satan is hoping for- Missed glory for God.

The Cure: Faith

“Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 These are all future things. We are to just believe it. Jesus said in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” He had been telling them not to worry, “...you of little faith” (v.30). This is much easier said than done, I know, but it is the only thing to be done. You don't want to be afraid? You don't want to be overly anxious? Just have faith: Trust completely in God to work all things for the good of those who love Him. (Romans 8:28)
